about
At the beginning of quarantine, we were developing the music for this song along with "Unstitching," but the lyrics came later, as Black Lives Matter protests surged in the Twin Cities, here in NYC, and across the world. We have been working on becoming better white allies and accomplices to the movement, and we acknowledge that this work must be ongoing, and we're committed to that continuing process. "The Parade Now" is dedicated to all of the BIPOC communities who have been fighting for justice and equality for too long.
lyrics
Now we are the parade
Feet pounding concrete, our voices raised
Now we dance and chant and sing
Now we march
Take my hand
Now we fly
Cross the oceans, now we're moon and tides
Blessing, mourning, wailing, rumbling
Tell me your story
I want to listen, I'll be quiet
Your words, our mission
The truth, it calls me to the fight
We'll rise from ruins
We'll learn and change
We will survive
We'll lick our wounds
We will remain
No compromise
I believe, I believe in you
At last we all are this parade
So long overdue

We were going to open up for JDE on 3/19 before the virus hit...experimental post-punk trio of uncharted depths, makes me dance alone in my living room. Great listening for art projects! Creek and Kills
No one rocks like these ladies! Their music comes from love and rage, and you can hear it in every rocking note. Political, funny, and always respectful of the power of felines. Creek and Kills

Me and my friend used to go on drives all the time, and a lot of the time i asked what he was playing, and a majority of the songs were from Yo La Tengo. And since i went and listened to And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out i was fan. Never thought i’d buy one of their records for myself. violetstain
Brooklyn's Groupie make post-punk that is at turns bouncy, scuzzy, joyous, and sharp, with a strong melodic core; this is their debut LP. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 19, 2021
